Why retain a Mississauga criminal lawyer.
Mississauga is Canada’s seventh-largest city, and Peel Region’s criminal court docket is one of the busiest in Ontario. Charges laid in Mississauga — from Streetsville to Cooksville to Port Credit — are heard at the A. Grenville and William Davis Courthouse in Brampton, the main criminal court venue for Peel Region.
Aaron M. Spektor has defended Mississauga clients for three decades. His office at Suite 305, 1000 Finch Avenue West is a 30-minute drive from Mississauga along the 401, and remote consultations are available where in-person meetings are inconvenient.
Whether you have been charged with impaired driving in Mississauga, an assault arising from a Square One incident, or a drug offence following a 401 traffic stop, Aaron handles your file personally from first appearance through resolution or trial.

Defence approachCriminal Lawyer Mississauga: How Peel Cases Move Through Court
Why a Mississauga charge is heard in Brampton
Mississauga does not have its own criminal courthouse. Every adult charge laid in the city, including the Pearson airport lands, goes to the Peel courthouse at 7755 Hurontario Street, about a half-hour north of Port Credit by Highway 403 and Hurontario. If you are held after arrest, the bail hearing happens there, usually the next day. If you are released, your first appearance is in a Brampton case-management courtroom, where the Crown provides initial disclosure. A Crown pre-trial and a judicial pre-trial follow before a trial is scheduled or the case resolves.
Policing patterns a Mississauga DUI lawyer sees
Peel Regional Police runs RIDE checkpoints at highway off-ramps and on arterial roads such as Hurontario, Dundas and Eglinton, with heavier enforcement through the holidays and on summer weekends near the Port Credit waterfront. The QEW, 401, 403 and 410 are patrolled by the OPP, so a Mississauga highway stop may produce OPP disclosure instead of Peel records. Airport-area arrests involve Peel’s airport officers and sometimes federal agencies. For drinking-and-driving files, see our dedicated DUI lawyer in Mississauga page.
What to do in the first day or two
If a family member is being held, start gathering possible sureties now — people with a stable address and no record who can attend court in Brampton. Keep copies of any release paperwork and photograph injuries or property damage relevant to the incident. In assault and domestic files, do not contact the complainant, directly or through friends, if a no-contact condition applies. Our assault lawyer in Mississauga page explains how self-defence and consent issues are assessed.
Working with a criminal defence lawyer in Mississauga from North York
Most Mississauga clients start with a phone or video consultation. Disclosure is shared and reviewed electronically, and many early remand dates proceed through counsel without you having to attend. Aaron attends the Brampton courthouse in person for bail hearings, pre-trials where in-person attendance helps, and every trial or plea date. Before each court date you get a short note explaining what will happen, whether you need to be there and what decision, if any, you have to make, so a Peel case stays predictable even though the courthouse is outside your own city.
